Have you had enough

keep walkingIf you're walking down the right path and you're willing to keep walking, eventually you'll make progress.
~Barack Obama

We want to loss weight, make more money ,be happier. But we are not taking the necessary steps to get there. Positive thinking is not enough; rather, we have to take action as well. We will not take action until we had enough.

You don't have to remains overweight, broke, or sad. It does not have to be that way.

1. Identify the problem

We first have to identify what we had enough of. This may seem obvious, but it is not. Sometimes the things we miss are right under our noses. I will use myself as a guinea pig for part of this post. This morning as I was getting ready for work, I realized once again that my pants are getting tight. Did take action to slow this recently? Of course not. I have been sleeping on it and it has been getting worst. I had a wake up call last night when a close friend of mine's father died due to his morbid obesity. Death is a profound wake up call.

2. Set Goals

After you wake up, you should move forward with realistic goals. Change is a great motto, but change will take time and hard work. I would like to start by losing 20 pounds. This will not happen overnight and if we think it will then we already defeated ourselves. My ongoing mini goal is to loss 1-2 ponds a week. I hope to accomplish this by moving more and eating less. I think sometimes we get into trouble not for what we eat but how much we eat.

3. Measure

Measuring our goals will help us to stay on track towards overcoming the things we had enough of. Store takes weekly inventory to make sure they provide their customer with what they demand. We have to do the same with or goals. If don't write down our goals then it easy to get sidetracked. Write your goals down and measure them regularly to see if you are on track. I plan to keep a weekly inventory of my weight and no no foods. Monitoring our weaknesses will help in coming weeks or months. Being in denial is what got us in our I had enough situation.

4. Keep going

You will fall but you have to keep going. We are not perfect; we will make mistakes and have setback on the path to our goals. The key is to keep going. So you applied for 10 jobs and you got one interview. Don't be disappointed. That is a lot better than the person who applies for 20 jobs and got zero calls. Keep your head up and keep on going.Stay Strong!
